 With growing focus on de-escalation as a law enforcement practice, this 40 hour course will prepare your officers and your agency to peacefully resolve incidents involving persons in crisis, as well as safely resolve hostage situations.    

Successful completion of the course will result in a Level 1 & 2 Certification for Crisis De-escalation and Hostage Negotiations

Informants are an important tool for police work, especially in narcotics investigations.  This class will explore the methods of recruiting and managing effective informants, and using them to build cases.  

The second portion of the course is a basic undercover school, covering how to choose UC officers, how to prepare UC officers for the assignment, differences between long and short term UC assignments, the use UC officers for narcotics, vice, murder-for-hire and other types of investigations.  This course includes realistic simulation and role playing requiring students to participate as both undercover officers, and UC officer handlers.

Designed for new or aspiring Detectives and Investigators, this class will prepare you with a solid foundation of skills to be successful in this new position.  A variety of topics will be covered, including crime scene preservation and processing, forensic evidence preservation,  technological tools such as GPS and cell phone data, search warrant and legal process preparation, building a case file, court room testimony, and other.  The 2 day "Interview and Interrogation" class can be added on to this course to fully prepare you to solve cases.

The fastest growing criminal offenses include "white collar" financial crimes, frauds, money laundering, and smuggling operations.  This 3 days class focuses on money laundering investigations, but also into "gray market" activities and smuggling operations that attract  other ancillary crimes, and harm legitimate businesses in your community.

As the saying goes, the real police work begins when the cuffs go on.  The most dilligent police work and most through investigation will all be in vain if the testimony of police officers and detectives is lacking.  Juries expect professional and clear testimony from officers, and poor testimony can easily sway a jury against the prosecution.

This class is taught by experienced, professional prosecutors to make sure you are able to present your case in front of the court and jury, where it counts.  The class includes practical exercises including moot cross examination, as officers and detectives might expect to face in a trial.  Mistakes are better made in a classroom where they can be learned from rather than in a courtroom, where there are no second chances.  This class is a must-have for any officer or detective looking to improve their court performance.

Solving crimes requires effective interview and interrogation skills. We teach a unique interview style, using elements of other methods, and adapting to each person individually. This technique has been crafted by hundreds of interviews of suspects, victims, and witnesses, and will lead to better information from victims,  more information from witnesses, and more confessions from suspects. This class includes an overview of various interview methods and tactics, pitfalls to avoid, building rapport, case studies, case law applicable to custodial interrogation and 5th and 6th amendment issues as they apply to custodial interrogations, Miranda advisement, eyewitness reliability & photo array presentation, and avoiding false confessions.

Sex trafficking is one of the more heinous crimes that police officers deal with.  This course outlines effective strategies for investigating, arresting, and successfully prosecuting those preying on some of society's weakest victims.

Sometimes a fresh set of eyes can find clues that were overlooked in the past.  Sometimes new evidence is available because of modern technology.  Sometimes reluctant witnesses or suspects are finally ready to tell what theyt know.  None of that matters if nobody ever pulls out that old case file and takes a second look.

This class outlines how to do this effectively to bring some long-awaited justice for these Cold Cases.
